Hong Kong Harmonica Association Harmonica Orchestra

(Hong Kong SAR, China)

The Hong Kong Harmonica Association was founded in 2002.

The associated Harmonica Orchestra made its overseas debut with a performance of ‘Elites Gathering’ composed by Mr Hui Cheung-wa at the 4th Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival (APHF) 2002 in Atsugi, Japan. At the following APHFs in 2004 (Hong Kong), 2006 (Taipei), 2009 (Hangzhou), 2010 (Singapore) and 2012 (Kuala Lumpur), as well as at the World Harmonica Festivals (Trossingen) in 2005, 2009, 2013 and 2017, the orchestra performed with between 50 and 100 players at the opening ceremony, one of the gala concerts or a special concert.

In addition to original works by Hong Kong composers, the repertoire includes classical works from various eras as well as popular pieces in different styles.

At all festivals, the orchestra has received enthusiastic reactions from the audience and impressively demonstrated its class and ingenious musicality. Over the years, the orchestra has premiered more than 10 original works by Hong Kong composers and continues its mission to introduce local compositions to a global audience.

Musical fascination is guaranteed!
